Agreed that much of the hip hop world is full of this kind of thing. I also think that at least some artists in the genre are at least aware of the problem if not actually doing something constructive about it.

Yeah, that's interesting. It is a recognition of people living beyond their means as part of some sort of status-game, but I'm not sure if it the lines:

"Drug dealer buy Jordans, crackhead buy crack
And a white man get paid off of all of that"

are particularly constructive. Any thoughts?

My reading of those lines is that he's pointing out that the economics behind 'black' culture are still subordinate to the white economic power behind it. In other words, whether you're buying 'bling' or drugs (being mainstays of the faux hip-hop 'black' culture), the money ultimately flows into the hands of a few rich white men. Which isn't an unreasonable point, in my view.
