Overused words of the English language

urban: this means 'of the city'. It does not mean hip-hop and it is not a by-word for cool.

eclectic: this essentially means 'of varied sources'. It does not mean outlandish or unusual, and it is not a by-word for cool.

contemporary: this means 'current'. It does not mean futuristic, and it is not a by-word for cool kitchens.

Probably caused in part by the popularity and imitation of Quentin Tarantino films, there has also been a proliferation of people attempting to use words above their station- words the meaning of which they don't quite understand.

Language, from what I understand, is pretty crucial to aligning yourself to a sub-culture.

I suppose we should be grateful that the English language is one of the richest in the world in terms of vocabulary.
